Social achievements including diversity, feminism and environmental awareness are declared the “new fascism” in German journalist Constantin Schreiber’s new novel, Die Kandidatin [The Candidate]. The novel flirts with racism and focuses on a German state threatened by Islamisation. The Tagesschau newsreader continues to be in demand as an “expert on Islam”.

The old stereotype that extreme right-wingers are large, white, working-class men is far off the mark, sociologist Anikó Félix says. Félix, who is the executive director of the new Jewish historical and cultural research institute named after the Hungarian scholar Ignác Goldziher, and also a researcher at the institute and an adviser to the Jewish World Congress, was talking to Jelen (Present) magazine about her recent report on antisemitic acts and about a survey by Median market research company measuring antisemitic attitudes.

On April 4th 2017, 65-year-old Sarah Halimi was murdered. Kobili Traoré is accused of killing the Jewish woman, beating her and throwing her from the apartment balcony. He denied antisemitic reasons behind the crime and instead stated that he had acted while in a psychotic episode triggered by cannabis.
